The ‘Shadow Rooms’ explore the twilight state of consciousness just before falling asleep, during which everyday materials take on ambiguous forms and meaning. When sensory input of the visual system is diminished or absent, the brain creates visual illusions. This explains the morphological perceptual changes that often happen when environmental light levels are strongly reduced.
